Sumenep – With its pristine marine ecosystem and strategic maritime location, PT Bandar Laut Dunia (BALAD GRUP) has officially invested in Sumenep Regency, Madura, East Java. The company’s initial step is the establishment of 50 lobster farming cages in Pengelek Bay, Saobi Village, Kangayan District. This initiative demonstrates PT BALAD’s strong commitment to managing and optimizing Sumenep’s marine potential while preserving the underwater ecosystem in the Kangean and Sapeken Islands.
“Today, we are bringing in our experts who will focus on the downstream development of LOKETARU (Lobster, Kerapu, Teripang, Anggur Laut, Rumput Laut dan Udang), ensuring marine cultivation is implemented with the ‘Blue Economy’ concept. This concept guarantees that farming is conducted without polluting the marine environment and residential areas while also preserving Sumenep’s marine sustainability,” said HRM Khalilur R. Abdullah Syahlawiy, owner of BALAD GRUP.
As part of its long-term investment strategy, BALAD GRUP is committed to conducting its business professionally. One concrete step is collaborating with internationally renowned marine aquaculture experts such as Philip Gu, who currently serves as a fisheries consultant for the United Nations (UN). With Philip Gu’s presence, Sumenep is expected to become a marine farming hub not only on a national scale but also capable of competing in Asia.
“We deliberately brought in Philip Gu because he is an expert in LOKETARU cultivation. With the substantial investment we have planned, we want to ensure that its management and development meet the highest standards,” added HRM Khalilur R. Abdullah Syahlawiy.
BALAD GRUP’s presence in Sumenep is expected to provide positive impacts on local economic growth, create new job opportunities, and strengthen Indonesia’s position as a key player in the sustainable fisheries industry. With an environmentally sustainable approach, this investment is not only economically beneficial but also ensures the conservation of marine resources for future generations.
